Alkali Bulrush

Alkali Bulrush (Bolboschoenus maritimus) is a perennial forb native to Western and Central US states (such as Utah, Nevada, California, and Nebraska) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–10. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with an upright, strongly rhizomatous growth habit, it features stiff, three-sided green stems and flat leaves, producing dark brown flower spikelet clusters. It thrives in saline or alkaline marshes, mudflats, and lake margins and is ideal for wetland restoration, saline shoreline protection, and waterfowl habitat enhancement.
