Common Threesquare

Chairmaker's Bulrush / Common Threesquare (Schoenoplectus pungens) is a perennial forb native to US states nationwide (such as Nebraska, Utah, California, and Maryland) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–9. Reaching a mature height of 2–5 feet with an upright, strongly rhizomatous sod-forming growth habit, it features rigid, three-sided green stems and produces brown terminal spikelet clusters. It thrives in shallow fresh to brackish water, mudflats, and lake shores and is ideal for wetland restoration, stream bank bioengineering, and aquatic erosion control.
