Reaching a mature height of 1–2.5 feet with a slender, branching upright growth habit, it features fine, feathery, fern-like green leaves and produces dense, spherical, globe-like heads of bright blue to violet flowers. It thrives in well-drained sandy or gravelly soils on sunny slopes and disturbed fields and is ideal for annual wildflower meadow restoration, highway revegetation, and native bee support.
