Hooker'S Evening Primrose

Hooker's Evening Primrose (Oenothera elata) is a biennial or short-lived perennial forb native to Western US states (such as California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico) that can thrive in USDA Zones 5–9. Reaching a mature height of 3–6 feet with a stout, upright growth habit, it features long, lance-shaped, grayish-green leaves and produces large, bright yellow four-petaled flowers that open in the evening and age to orange-red. It thrives in moist soils along streams, meadows, and disturbed roadside areas in full sun and is ideal for riparian margin stabilization, roadside revegetation, and hawkmoth pollinator support.
