Inland Saltgrass

Distichlis spicata
Inland Saltgrass (Distichlis spicata) is a perennial grass native to Western and Coastal US states (such as California, Nevada, Utah, Texas, and Florida) that can thrive in USDA Zones 4–10. Reaching a mature height of 6–18 inches with a tough, low-growing, strongly rhizomatous sod-forming growth habit, it features stiff, sharp-pointed, two-ranked grayish-green leaves and produces compact seed spikes. It thrives in highly saline, alkaline, or brackish soils, playa margins, and tidal flats and is ideal for saline soil reclamation, heavy-use soil stabilization, and wetland buffer zones.
