Orchardgrass

Dactylis glomerata
Orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata) is a perennial grass native to northeastern US states (such as Pennsylvania and New York) and has also been successfully introduced across North America as a non-invasive high-yield forage grass that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–8. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with a dense, coarse, fast-growing bunching growth habit, it features broad, flat, light green leaf blades and produces distinct, one-sided clumped seed panicles. It thrives in rich, moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade and is ideal for intensive livestock pasture grazing, high-quality hay production, and rapid soil protection.
