Sixweeks Fescue

Festuca octoflora
Six-Weeks Fescue (Vulpia octoflora / Festuca octoflora) is an annual grass native to US states nationwide (such as California, Arizona, Texas, Kansas, and Ohio) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–10 as a cool-season annual. Reaching a mature height of 3–12 inches with a small, delicate, tufted growth habit, it features fine, thread-like green leaf blades and produces narrow, bristly green-to-purplish seed panicles. It thrives in dry, sandy, gravelly, or shallow sterile soils in open deserts, plains, and disturbed sites in full sun and is ideal for rapid spring soil cover, desert wind erosion control, and arid land stabilization.
