Cool season, densely tufted, perennial bunchgrass with a deep fibrous root system. Occurs in all soil textures on deep soils. Tolerates wet, poorly drained, saline sites. Moderately drought-tolerant. Good palatability to livestock and big game. Extremely important to use endophyte free strains when intended as forage. Used for pasture, hay, silage, soil erosion and as a turfgrass.
